How will AI affect the creative fields?
It’s a common fear for all jobs in the creative fields. One day you’re working diligently at your desk and you’re called into a quick-meeting with your boss.
As you close the door or jump on that zoom call they tell you that your position is no longer needed. Your job is being replaced by Artificial Intelligence.
This may not be the case.
AI is here to stay, so embrace the revolution!
Love it or hate it, artificial intelligence is rapidly advancing and infiltrating all industries, including our beloved creative field. While there are attempts to halt its recent rocket-like development, it's clear that AI is here to stay, and it's already taking on the many roles traditionally held by creatives.
But don't despair! As a creative professional, you have the power to harness AI technology to enhance your work, rather than fear it as a replacement. Embracing this revolution means exploring the possibilities of AI and using it to improve your creative output.
Sure, AI may be able to pull from existing resources, but it can only do so much. The prompts fed to AI tools often regurgitate information that already exists on the internet, lacking the unique insights and perspectives that only a human mind can provide. This means that you still have a crucial role to play in the creative process.
So, instead of letting AI take over, use it to your advantage. AI can help you streamline tasks, generate new ideas, and even enhance the quality of your work. By embracing AI, you can stay ahead of the curve and elevate your creative output to new heights.
Using AI to be the better you
Are you a designer who's worn many hats over the years? As a result, you've become a jack-of-all-trades, but now you're ready to take your work to the next level. You’ve already encountered the ultimate tool for elevating your design game.
With AI, you can leverage your diverse experiences to create designs that go beyond the average. Struggling with coding? AI can help you write that tricky footer code for your website. Need to optimize your content for SEO? AI can help you re-write your articles to rank higher. And when it comes to discovery sessions with new clients, AI can even generate prompts that you may not have thought of.
AI has the power to be the equalizer that sets your work apart from the rest. But you may be wondering, what AI tools are available today? From ChatGPT to MidJourney, there are many options to choose from. However, there is controversy surrounding the ethics of using AI to create, which is why I suggest using AI as an assistant rather than a replacement. By embracing AI as a tool to enhance your existing skills and knowledge, you can take your work to new heights while maintaining the human touch that makes your designs truly unique.
Don't be afraid to experiment with AI and see where it can take you in your design journey. Just remember, a robot can never replace what we as creatives can do completely. It can only imitate it.
Midjourney
Midjourney as an image generating AI that primarily lives on the social app, Discord. So in order to use it you’ll need to join their Discord channel.
It’s varieties of uses revolve around generating multiple image in response to text prompts. This may be asking for an image of Santa at burning man or a close up of a flower stamen. The choice is yours. The app has free features for now but also has a paid version.
ChatGPT
ChatGPT is a conversational AI language model designed to engage in natural language conversations with users. Its primary purpose is to provide information, answer questions, and assist with tasks to the best its ability based on the data and knowledge that its been trained on.
While it’s free for now, it’s unknown how long that will stay the case.
Bearly.AI
Bearly is a bit of all of the above. In my limited experience using it, I found it had more use as a rewriter. This could be checking for grammar use, using different tones of voice by rewriting what you’ve written, or even producing copy or topics for blogs (not this one, I promise.)
This AI has a monthly fee to use properly.
SaneBox
Sanebox is quite literally a sanity saver. An AI that can sort your inbox for you, create labels for conversations, and even remember people and names from old contacts you may have forgotten.
I’ve used it for a few months now and can attest to it’s effectiveness.
By using AI as a tool to enhance your work, you can stay relevant and push the boundaries of what's possible in the ever-evolving world of creativity. So don’t fear the rise of AI in the creative industry - embrace it!
